    Govt Electric Bike Scheme 2026 : Rs. 80,000 Subsidy & Easy Installments for Employees

    As a significant move towards cutting down on the amount of fuel consumed and towards promoting environmentally friendly transport, Government of Pakistan is planning to issue 76,000 electric bikes to government employees under a new subsidy scheme. The project will help in reducing the oil importation bill in the country in addition to rendering the daily commute affordable.

    The proposal, the development of which took into account the recommendations of the Engineering Development Board, is now awaiting a final approval of the Prime Ministers Office.

    Key Highlights of the Electric Bike Scheme

    • Total Bikes: 76,000 units
    • Subsidy Amount: Rs. 80,000 per bike
    • Target Beneficiaries: Government employees
    • Payment Method: Easy monthly installments
    • Additional Goal: Reduce fuel imports and promote green transport

    Breakdown of Rs. 80,000 Subsidy

    The subsidy is designed in a transparent manner to directly benefit the applicants:

    • Rs. 30,000 → Paid to banks as interest support
    • Rs. 50,000 → Transferred directly to the applicant’s bank account

    This two-fold construction makes sure that the financing costs are lower as well as offers instant financial relief.

    Who Is Eligible?

    The scheme primarily focuses on government workers whose wages are registered under Accountant General Pakistan Revenues system.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Must be a government employee
    • Salary must be processed via AGPR
    • Must provide an AGPR verification letter
    • Must register the bike in their own name

    How to Apply for Electric Bike Scheme

    The procedure of the application is supposed to be clear and easy.

    Step-by-Step Process

    1. Obtain AGPR verification letter
    2. Submit application through the official channel (to be announced)
    3. Complete verification process
    4. Get approval for installment plan
    5. Purchase and register the bike
    6. Receive subsidy after registration

    Special Quotas and Phases

    There are also special allocations introduced by the government:

    Journalists Quota

    • Electric bikes available on self-finance basis
    • No installment support like government employees

    Female Journalists

    • Separate quota planned in Phase 2

    Payment & Disbursement System

    One key condition of the scheme:

    • Subsidy will be released only after bike registration in the applicant’s name

    This ensures transparency and prevents misuse of funds.

    Challenges in Previous Phase

    During the first phase:

    • National Database and Registration Authority faced verification issues
    • Some applicants could not be processed due to technical problems
    • Despite this, 40,000 subsidies were successfully distributed

    Authorities are expected to improve the system in the upcoming phase.
