The Free Home Medicine Delivery Project, which is an innovative healthcare project was officially introduced by the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the purpose of this project is to deliver essential medicines to the patients directly in the province. This program particularly targets the elderly, bedridden, cardiac, hepatitis and TB patients who have difficulties attending hospitals regularly.
The project is a tremendous step towards healthcare reforms in Punjab and the vision of the CM to provide citizens with a doorstep healthcare service.
Maryam Nawaz Personally Delivers Medicines to Patients
CM Maryam Nawaz also visited the homes of two cardiac patients in Lahore and delivered their medicines personally, to emphasize the significance of the initiative.
Visit to Rasoolan Bibi – Shaman Katchi Abadi
Maryam Nawaz made a visit to Rasoolan Bibi, an aged patient with a heart condition, to meet her in the narrow streets of Shaman Katchi Abadi. The emotional scene was when the woman wept as she was given medicines by the hands of the Chief Minister. Maryam Nawaz, sitting next her, enquired about her health, and was praying that she would recover.
Visit to Munawar Malik – Shadman Katchi Abadi
The CM also paid a visit to another cardiac patient Munawar Malik in the company of a TCS rider who delivered the package. The patient was grateful, and he does not have a reason to stand in long lines in hospitals anymore to pick his medicines.
Launch of New Health Facilities in Punjab
Besides the medicine delivery project, Maryam Nawaz also opened a series of significant healthcare system enhancements in Punjab.
1. Sahulat Markaz – Primary & Secondary Healthcare
To provide direct access to treatment and uninterrupted supply of medicine, the CM re-registered the Hepatitis and TB patients.
2. Inspection of the Drug Testing Lab
Maryam Nawaz thoroughly inspected the new Drug Testing Lab, including:
- Chromatography section
- Drug release laboratory
- Sample receiving area
- Hepatitis and public health lab
Authorities informed her of quality testing and safe packaging procedures prior to sending medicines to patients.
3. FM Sehat Zindagi Podcast
She versions an informative podcast at FM Sehat Zindagi, talking about the health sector improvements.
4. Foundation Stone of Healthcare Development Wing
The CM set the groundwork of a dedicated development wing in a bid to enhance health infrastructure in Punjab.
Who Will Receive Free Medicines? (Project Coverage)
The Punjab Government shall provide two months of medicines at the homes of:
- Hepatitis patients
- TB patients
- Cardiac patients
After their routine medical checkups, a new batch of medicines will be delivered again.
Project Outreach
- 200,000 patients will receive home-delivered medicines.
- Field hospitals have been activated in rural and remote areas to expand treatment facilities.
Maryam Nawaz’s Vision for Punjab Healthcare

- The earlier PML-N government (2013–2018) had launched a similar medicine delivery program, which was later discontinued.
- The project has now been revived and expanded across all districts of Punjab.
