Lahore: Officially, the government of Punjab has announced a chain of public holidays in the whole province between February 4 and February 8, 2026, in association with the religious, national, and cultural holidays, offering a long holiday to students and many of the employees.
It is reported according to official announcements that on Wednesday, February 4, a public holiday will be celebrated due to the Shab-e-Barat. Schools and other appropriate governmental departments will continue shutting so that the citizens can engage themselves in the religious prayers and night-long services in connection with the event.
Thursday, February 5, has also been declared by the provincial government as a public holiday to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day, yearly to show solidarity and support with the citizens of the Indian occupied Kashmir. Seminars, solidarity activities and official events are conducted throughout the country on this day.
Moreover, the testing days, Friday, February 6, and Saturday, February 7, have also been declared as holidays in relation to Basant-related cultural festivals, according to the orders of the local administrations. Such holidays will be accepted on few industries and organizations according to the official directions, especially in the areas where Basant is controlled.
In the meantime, regular weekly holiday will be held on Sunday, February 8.
The notifications are mostly applicable in the case of institutions in the public sector and the private schools, colleges and offices have been encouraged to adhere to guidance given by the authorities or the respective managements.
Through such announcements, the government workers and students in most parts of Punjab will have a five days uninterrupted leave, which will depend on the nature of their institution and local administrative decisions.
