Murree: Schools and colleges in Murree and Kotli Sattian will reopen in March 9, 2026, as per a formal announcement made by the Punjab Education Department after the unusually long winter vacation due to weather conditions. The announcement has relieved parents, students, and educators who have been waiting to get a clear picture of the re-commencement of academic activities.

The extended shutdown was done to secure the safety of students and staff due to heavy snow fall, frozen weather, and unsafe road conditions within the hilly area. The government adopted the smart approach since traveling in peak winter seasons is very dangerous, especially to young children and teachers who travel to remote locations.

    Reason Behind the Extended Closure

The move to postponed reopening was motivated by the continued unfavorable weather conditions during the winter season. Daily commuting was not safe due to snow-covered roads, landslides, and low visibility, and the administration of the district decided to prolong the winter holidays. The move was also embraced by many parents who value safety more than regular schedules.

    Winter Vacation Timeline

    • Winter vacation began: December 22, 2025
    • Winter vacation ended: March 7, 2026
    • Schools to reopen: March 9, 2026
    • Applicability: All public and private schools and colleges in Murree and Kotli Sattian

The administrative digitized that the long hiatus gave institutions room to plan campuses and educational schemes to reopen without having trouble.

    What to Expect After Reopening

With the reopening of Murree schools, the schools are preparing to resume normal academic life. Regular classes in schools are supposed to commence as early as possible, and more academic support should be given to the students to get accustomed to school life after the long break.

    Planned measures include:

    • Revision sessions to cover missed coursework
    • Teacher-led support to help students readjust
    • Focused preparation for upcoming assessments and final exams

Parents have been informed to make sure that children are mentally ready and have done any form of work allocated as a holiday before coming back.

    Academic Planning During the Break

The winter vacation was recorded to be used by the teachers to restructure lesson plans and to make changes in the academic calendars. To reduce the gaps that existed in learning, families were advised to remain at home to keep learning going through revision, reading, and study routines.

    Examination Guidelines Before Closure

Before the winter break began, school administrations were instructed to:

    • Complete midterm examinations before December 22, 2025
    • Announce results prior to the vacation
    • Provide students with study guidance for home learning

These steps helped students receive timely academic feedback and plan their studies during the closure.

    Safety and Transport Readiness

As people prepare to open up, the local governments are examining the roads and safety in transportation. Schools can re-issue the new notifications based on weather near March 9 in order to have safe student and staff travel.

It is seen in the balanced stance of the decision to reopen schools in Murree in March 9, 2026, in order to protect the lives and the continuation of the academic process. Although the winter break was prolonged than usual, it guaranteed the safety of students during extreme weather and gave schools time to make informed preparations about the new term. It is suggested that parents and students should be informed via official media and should be ready to resume life with school.
