Under its new relief program to alleviate fuel costs on its citizens, the Government of Punjab has officially begun to make petrol subsidy payments to motorcycle owners.
According to a press conference by Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari it has started paying those applicants who have passed the registration and verification procedure successfully.
Payments Released After Verification
The minister indicates that currently only applicants who have gone through their registration process and have passed the verification phase are getting subsidy payments. The program is aimed at relieving the financial burden due to increasing fuel prices.
She advised other applicants who had not registered yet to do so before the extended deadline in order to enjoy the program.
Registration Deadline Extended
To accommodate more citizens, the government has gone an extra steps:
- Registration deadline extended by one month
- Registration fee temporarily waived
- Simplified process for wider accessibility
Minister Azma Bokhari stressed that the extension is meant to have maximum participation, particularly among underserved communities.
Inclusive Program for All Citizens
The government has emphasized on the fact that the subsidy program is all-inclusive and everyone in the society, including people with disabilities, is eligible to receive the subsidy.
Authorities said that special precautions have been observed to make sure that no deserving group is denied benefits.
Government Ensures Fuel Supply Stability
Addressing the people with Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, the minister assured that there is no shortage of petroleum in the entire province.
But she also admitted that some of the elements of fuel pricing are subject to wider economic influences and not wholly within provincial control.
Relief Amid Rising Fuel Costs
The petrol subsidy program belongs to a larger program of the Government of Punjab to keep the cost to citizens, in particular to daily commuters who use motorcycles.
Thousands of people are likely to be benefited by the program, as it will reduce monthly fuel bills and enhance affordability.
Introduction of petrol subsidy payment is another milestone towards alleviated motorcycles owners in Punjab. By offering long deadlines, no fee charges and inclusive policies, the government hopes that more citizens who have the right to enjoy the initiative of the government during the hard economic times do so.
