    State Bank of Pakistan Announces New Currency Notes Update 2026

    The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has released a significant update on the implementation of new currency notes in Pakistan by 2026. Although there is mounting debate on the redesigned banknotes, the authorities have made it clear that the procedure is still in progress and no redesigned note has been issued yet.

    The purpose of this news is to dispel rumors and present true, confirmed information to the masses.

    According to the State Bank of Pakistan:

    Why Pakistan Is Introducing New Currency Notes

    Currency designs are regularly updated all over the world. Pakistan is considering new notes owing to some important reasons:

    • To prevent counterfeit (fake) currency
    • To improve durability of banknotes
    • To introduce modern security features
    • To make notes easier to identify

    Experts anticipate that these updates will improve financial stability and trust among people in the currency system.

    Some of the anticipated features are: even though the final designs are not publicly announced yet, they are expected to include:

    • Color-changing ink
